How does a bike meter / odometer work?

I am referring to the wireless signal - How it works?

Basically it is a transmitter-transmitter that attach to the front fork (in general) and it generates a radio wave of any frequency design the manufacturer. A magnet attached to the spanner in the pulse of this signal and that is captured by the receiver / head unit generally mounted on the handlebars. This unit primarily, which is really magic! Count the number of pulses received (eg, rotation of the wheel) and compares with an internal clock based on this information (and the wheel size programmed in by the jockey), calculates the speed and distance traveled. Many also have a mechanism to measure heart rate, this is achieved with a strap around the chest drivers (with electrical contacts on skin) that wirelessly sends another pulse to the main unit and calculate your heart rate in beats per minute. Some of them go further and have a magnet on the crank and a unit of the wireless transmitter attaches to the suspension chain, he measured the speed of pedaling or cadence (rpm).
