I want to convert my bike to single speed?

(Question 1) What is the process and the steps? I have a vintage Peugeot road bike 10 speed (I'm a woman), I have been riding over the past year. I want to change the brakes and turn it into a single speed. Weinmann brakes right now is that I think could be original, and the Sachs-Huret derailer is. What exactly is this? (Question 2) Do I have to get a new wheel adjustment (Question 3)? what price are good brands moderate for the brakes and all I can need (question4)? Can estimate how much this might cost (question5)? if you need more information than I do know, and please do not pretentious jerks leaving comments not questions. (Question 6) How I can determine the right gear ratio for my single-speed, the bike mechanic to resolve this with me?
