Can I use a standard 9-speed chain single speed?
Unless you have a ring or sprocket which are specially designed for 1 / 8 "chain (rare), the answer is yes. (as you probably 3 / 32"). You can use any bicycle chain with a 1 / 2 inches tall. (1 / 8 or 3 / 32). 7,8,9 and 10 speed chains are all 1 / 2 "(height) x 3 / 32." Different widths refer the lateral dimensions. 10 speed is the closest, but still has an internal width of 3 / 32. "Good quality 1 / 8 is more consumption, but you can use anything you want.
