make carbon frames require more maintenance than aluminum?
I know I can beat the crap out of Al frames, but how to treat and care for carbon frames? im thinking in particular on carbon Specialized Epic. It feels so weak and I am a little worried about finding something that feels so fragile. Once as I underestimated how much it can be compared to a similar force?
Hm .. thats an interesting question. I think FC managers not require more maintenance than aluminum, but they have different needs. Firstly, let go worse scenario. Although the framework crashed should be carefully inspected before driving. While some types of damage (bumps, cracks, etc.) then it's bye bye Marco. Neither CF or aluminum Dents or cracks can handle without going to failure. Looksie In general, each time a part of FC received a scratch, must be immediately sealed. I think Trek suggests that nail polish is as good as anything. CF also can detach and absorb moisture-threatening image. Both managers must be verified during weekly for cracks, especially in the bottom bracket / Editing / space pods and pods of the building (just behind the little piece of the bottom bracket, between the cloves). It also pays to make surveillance close any suspension pivot points. FC alum and a lot of effort for a while and finally showing the wear and failure. Just a fact of life. I also saw crack head tube to the occasion. In terms of strength, no problems with any of these materials, but it is much easier to break or crack FC (not the President), while aluminum tends to do better at impact. However, aluminum in May showed no signs of stress or failure at all until it will happen. This is called "Sudden catastrophic failure" that can happen and happens mainly in pushing the envelope as far as the wall thickness of the tube and weight. Cannondale was (and is perhaps) well known for tubes cracked and missing without notice. I used to make the S Works (Specialized "custom") Marco Ultimate ... CF had tubes and Ti additions. There were about 11,000 miles on it (a little over a year) before I was more comfortable on horseback IT ..... began to feel loose. Now I ride either steel (Reynolds 853 or 753 according to race or visitation) or Magnesium paketa have had my share of empty promises meaning to both aluminum and CF.
