Why is my soft shell turtle?
My Red ear Slider Shell is soft. I do not know why, because I bought it from people who had a lot of those who came from Louisiana. He is a baby. I do not see him eat, but he could eat when I'm not. I have a reptile light, an island for him out of the water, and one side of his aquarium tank built with stones so you can leave the water. I also have one of those bones hug, but for some reason, her shell is really smooth. The underside of its body is soft and the outer shell is soft. I do not know if it is a soft shell or what, because I did not pay much attention to its shell, when I got to him. Please let me know what to do because I do not want to die. Thanks
Sounds like a deficiancy calium. Get some and put ReptiCal in their food. You should also make sure you're eating. If you do not like what you are feeding him, try something different. The turtles are whimsical and some are starve rather than eat something I dislike.
